Britain’s biggest firms are well connected

According to a recent Recruiter article, the biggest firms in Britain have a combined total of 19 million Facebook fans, 1.9 million LinkedIn followers and 1.7 million on Twitter.

A survey conducted by The Group which profiled the social media efforts of FTSE 100 companies also demonstrated that only 12 of the top 100 had Google+ profiles in comparison to 86% who had a company page on LinkedIn.

Cathal Smyth from The Group commented that companies were missing the opportunity to engage stakeholders by neglecting this channel.

Social media, most notably LinkedIn, has also proven itself to be vital engaging stakeholders in the recruitment process, acting as a world-wide database of candidates for recruiters, and an important networking tool for candidates.
